MONIQUE ALCALA LAUNCHES BID FOR TEXAS DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIR

AUSTIN, TX – Today, former Texas Democratic Party Executive Director and veteran political strategist Monique Alcala formally filed to run for Texas Democratic Party Chair and issued the following statement:

“The Texas Democratic Party needs change, but that change cannot come at the expense of hardworking elected officials, staff, progressive leaders, and volunteers who put in countless hours, and at many points risking their lives, to help build a truly representative democracy. 

“That promise of change is why the current chair was elected, but the change that was promised is a far cry from what has been delivered.

“As a single mom from a working-class family in Central Texas, I know all too well the struggles Texans face every day. And as a veteran of some of the most competitive Democratic campaigns in Texas and across the country, I am ready to do what it takes to restore credibility to the state party, both statewide and nationally. I look forward to meeting with state party delegates and discussing how, together, we can make that happen.
